About Art Academy
Established in 1998, The Art Academy was founded by Artist Gerard Gittens, to assist students in expressing their full artistic talent.
The Academy has been privileged to have some tremendously talented individuals. It is my greatest joy to watch many of students blossom. We offer six-week drawing and painting courses, each specializing in a specific subject to help you master: acrylic paints, watercolours landscapes, seascapes, still life, fruit and florals and may more! Our drawing programs include figure (human anatomy) drawing, portraits as well as hands and feet. We also walk you through the fundamentals of drawing. Our workshops combine to provide a comprehensive coverage of most subjects that beginners and intermediate students and seeking.

Beginner to Advanced
Our courses take you through each subject step by step-guaranteeing your steady progress. Working with your current experience level we gradually build on your strengths.
Flexible Class Schedule
We recognize how busy you are and offer six week short-courses. Our classes are scheduled on week afternoons-after hours and on Saturday mornings. The six week duration allows you to master one subject at a time and to pick and choose your areas of interest.
Meet Your Teacher
From a very young age I knew I wanted to be an artist. I drew constantly in school, finding that doodling while listening to my teachers relaxed me and allowed me to be more attentive, though this was not always appreciated by my lecturers.
My own Art is often an outward expression of my inner journey and has played an important role in my spiritual quest for wholeness. I have always aspired to live my truth and to courageously engage my inner conflicts in the pursuit of healing and ascension to ever higher places of consciousness.
I work in many media, dabbling in water colours, acrylics, collage and clay. One of the most unique things I do is to collect discarded items and bring them together in fantastic configurations that fascinate and delight the eye.
I graduated from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in 1985 after earning an Associate of Science Degree in Design.
